✏️ Connecting via Post:A Letter Writing Workshop

Overview 227 Lovely Attendees

About this FieldTrip

💌 In this workshop individuals will be encouraged to write a letter!

🧠We’ll cover the reasons why letter writing is great for not just your mental health but the mental and emotional health of letter recipients as well.

✍️We’ll look at ways to break the ice and ‘just get writing’ with prompts to inspire us.

🎨We’ll open ourselves to creativity with markers and stickers and whatever you fancy to decorate our letters and share a bit of our personality via snail mail!

📭 Participants are encouraged to come to the workshop with an open mind and a curiosity for letter writing. There will be recommendations for ways to engage with letter writing and pen paling further during the talk.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

🟡Participants should expect to leave the workshop with a better sense of how letters have worked to connect humanity for thousands of years.

💌 Participants will have dedicated time to write letter(s) and decorate the papers/envelopes to express themselves. Letters aren’t necessarily ‘handwritten’ and digital forms of letter expression are encouraged and invited!

✍️ Participants will be encouraged to complete the workshop with a letter ready to be posted and shared online with as part of the community hashtag: ‘Write More Letters’.

🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

🎨Participants are invited to bring along paper, pens, envelopes, and any crafting accessories they like (including stickers, washi tape, paint, etc.)

💻Participants who would prefer to create digitally are invited to bring any tech or devices to accommodate this desire.

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Hi! My name is Liz. I am the creator and curator behind the digital archive of vintage love letters, Flea Market Love Letters. I believe that together we can challenge the idea that the ‘handwritten letter is dying’. Letter writing can be a fun and a great creative outlet!

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
