I’m a Creativity Coach and Teacher who believes picking up the paintbrush is more important that what you produce with it! I use mixed media and art journaling to encourage others to play, and to find delight and freedom in their own creativity.

About this FieldTrip

Playing with paper and glue is such a great way to tap back into your creativity in an easy, fun-filled way! By adding small bits of collage fodder to a simple folded zine, you can enjoy the process of creating a project in a short time frame. It is also something you can recreate over and over again!

This beginner-friendly Field Trip invites you to add your favorite quotes, poems, words, scriptures, etc to the pages so that you can be inspired daily.

A PDF of inspirational sayings is provided to get you started!

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ We will learn to fold a zine using simple printer paper.

✔️From there, we will add bits of colorful collage pieces to a few of the pages. We will not finish the entire zine but you will get a wonderful start so you can continue on your own.

✔️ We will embellish the collage further with a little watercolor and doodle pen marks.

✔️ Adding a saying/quote onto the finished pages will be the last step!

✔️ There will be time at the end for anyone that wants to share their zine.

🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

✔️ White printer paper

✔️A magazine/catalog/collage paper bits

✔️ Glue stick

✔️ Scissors

✔️ Watercolors

✔️ Small paint brush or waterbrush

✔️ Favorite doodle marker: I love a black Sharpie pen

✔️ Optional: stamps and a black ink pad

Printed PDF of quotes

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Consie Sindet is a Creativity Coach and Teacher at Atop Serenity Hill. She’s been teaching creativity in many forms for 15+ years and before online classes were even a thing, she taught in-person art classes to hundreds of women.

Consie finds that art journaling is the most freeing way to express herself and wants us all to know that we can find freedom, playfulness, and joy by slapping down some paint, gluing magazine pages to a piece of paper, adding doodling & marks, finding a quote that screams…‘THIS IS HOW I FEEL TODAY!“…and calling it good enough.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
