About the speaker
Formerly an academic research writer in Los Angeles, Ms. Choo Kah Ying is a writer/editor, educator, advocate, former homeschooler, and a mother. Inspired by her homeschooling journey with her son, she has published four books: All Because of the Hummingbird... Or the Horse, Raising Sebastien: Realising the Potential of Your Autistic Child, Five Little White Pills... And Then There Were None: A Journey from Manic Depression to Recovery, and Where Does My Autistic Son Belong? In addition, Ms. Choo conducts talks and consultations on autism, special education, parenting, manic depression, and mental wellness. Through A Mother’s Wish, a social enterprise , she hopes to support families struggling to raise autistic loved ones by spreading accurate treatment approaches and raising funds for effective programmes.
