About the speaker

Charlyn Yap is a Singaporean founder and creative entrepreneur whose 15-year career is a testament to the power of "Made in Singapore." At her core, she is the Founder of ART/ST Records, a female-led studio specializing in the rare, hand-cut craft of lathe records. As the only lathe cutter in Singapore, Charlyn is dedicated to reclaiming a forgotten craft that was once a significant pillar of Singapore’s creative heritage.

Charlyn’s professional DNA was formed in the global entertainment hub of Los Angeles, where she managed social media strategy for international icons during defining cultural moments—including Carly Rae Jepsen at the peak of "Call Me Maybe" and will.i.am during his #willpower campaign. Having mastered the art of building global fandoms, Charlyn returned to Singapore to apply these same principles to destination marketing, specializing in social media management for the Singapore Tourism Board and Clarke Quay.

Her strategic trajectory continued at Publicis Groupe, where she managed a portfolio of regional and local brands, including Disney, Emirates, Nespresso, Tiger Beer, and OCBC Bank. Throughout her advertising career, localization was a primary focus, as she adapted global brand identities to resonate deeply within the nuanced cultural landscapes of Southeast Asia.

Charlyn’s ability to scale brand impact reached a global peak at Shopee, where she led a regional team overseeing the Asia Pacific and LATAM markets. She then joined OATSIDE as Regional Head of Partnerships, where she drove brand marketing across 11 markets and orchestrated high-profile collaborations with Samsung, Lululemon, Uniqlo, New Era, and CASETiFY.

As a fierce advocate for local craftsmanship and hyperlocal identity, alongside her work at ART/ST Records, Charlyn also lends her strategic expertise to Singapore’s burgeoning lifestyle landscape as the Fractional Partnership Director at The Lo & Behold Group. Today, Charlyn is a leading voice in Singapore’s creative economy, proving that the most impactful brand stories are those rooted in heritage, community, and the power of 'Made in Singapore.
