About the speaker
Cameron L. Mitchell is a literary painter who challenges his audience to write their own story. As the Founder and Executive Director of Free Fyre and the 2022 Poet Laureate of Murfreesboro, Cameron is an international artist, author, and speaker known for transformative storytelling that lives at the intersection of art, identity, and mental health. He is the author of Breaking The Block: Building a Path to Write the Story, a work that empowers individuals to break through the various creative, mental, and emotional blocks in life to achieve their goals.
Cameron has collaborated with organizations and institutions including the Legacy Foundation in Japan, Nafasi Art Space in Tanzania, Faith Temple in Germany, Disney, PBS, the Bobby Jones Show, Vanderbilt University, and the National Jazz Museum of Harlem to name a few.
An award-winning actor, Cameron is widely recognized for his role as Corey Maxson in Fences (Nashville Rep), part of a production honored for Best Contemporary Drama. He also stars in the feature film Dating My Past, which premiered internationally in Curaçao and is now streaming globally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Tub which has reach a million views.
With decades of experience leading creative writing and storytelling workshops for people of all ages, Cameron uses creative expression as a powerful tool to advance mental health, through personal and professional development.
