About the speaker

Bryce Galloway is the author of Aotearoa’s longest running zine. It’s also a zine with a very long title, simultaneously hard to remember but impossible to completely forget: Incredibly Hot Sex with Hideous People. So what’s a zine? A zine is any piece of short run print media. Is Bryce’s zine really about incredibly hot sex with hideous people? Well, no, not usually. Bryce’s zine is a diaristic offering of personal essays, comics and drawings and its author is rather a monogamous and happily married 56-year old. That makes Bryce an aged zinester, working in a medium dominated by creatives in their teens and twenties.

Bryce Galloway will be tackling the CreativeMornings theme ‘Critical’ in relation to zine-making: How zines are simultaneously critical of mainstream media AND internet publishing.

Bryce Galloway is a Senior Lecturer at the Whiti o Rehua School of Art, Massey University, Wellington, where he teaches interdisciplinary studio arts, drawing, zine-making and critical studies.
