About the speaker
Andreea Cristina Borțun is a Romanian writer and filmmaker, a graduate of UNATC, Bucharest and BARD College Berlin. Andreea’s directorial debut, the short film Blue Spring, was selected in 2015 for the official competition of the 40th Toronto International Film Festival, and her second short, Love Locker won the France 3 Award, to be broadcasted in 2018. She has been an active contributor for various film and art magazines. She is the co-founder of Pustnik, an international screenwriters residency that takes place in Romania. From time to time, she also works as a playwright. She had her debut in a theatre show directed by Neil LaBute, and her first play (Ashes Afar) was part of Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015. Her newest theatrical work, Back in winter opened in Bucharest in November 2017, at Unteatru. Andreea is currently in the process of research her first feature length film, set in rural Romania. She is the co-founder of Ideo Ideis National Youth Theatre Festival, the biggest event in Romanian dedicated to alternative education through means of art.
