About the speaker
Ammar A. Sabban, Puppeteer - Creative Director - Podcaster Why I Do What I Do… I want to have a positive impact on my community that will help make it better. In addition, I would like to entertain and bring joy to everyone in the process. Today; each person has their own favorite type of media content. With content available in every handheld device; people have become isolated and families are now more divided than ever. Therefore, I believe that one of the solutions lies in one of the oldest forms of entertainment known to man presented in a new model way that will bring families together to laugh, learn, and socialize. How I Do What I Do… By creating friendly characters in the form of hand-puppets to entertain family members of all ages, and to develop content that grabs their attention while also delivering a positive message. Developing comedic content that is more than just about generating laughs; where the message is as important as the joke and the artistic value. Carefully knitting positive messages in every video while allowing each viewer to see something from a different perspective. Therefore, whether my content is presented online, on TV or through live performances; it’s a great conversation starter that includes the whole family. Each family member will find something to laugh about; which in turn will spark conversations between generations that rarely see eye to eye. Where I Do What I Do… At 31 Workshop Ave, I work on designing and building puppet characters to be used for live and video productions. I designed and built our main character called “Afroott” which is a puppet Yeti (Yeti: a large hairy creature resembling a human or bear, said to live in the highest part of the Himalayas). 31 Workshop has independently written, produced, and published the first season of the online comedy show: “Afroott”. We are now producing season two of Afroott’s show, as well as producing and marketing videos for companies and organizations that could be used as part of an entity’s CSR programs or awareness campaigns. Who I Am… I’m a professional Puppeteer, Creative Director، Entertainment Content Developer and Voice Actor. The founder of 31 Workshop Ave. and the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of the Mstdfr Podcast Network. Also I’m the Creative Manager of Bidaya Media which is the producing entity for the Iftah Ya Simsim show (Arabic version of Sesame Street) which I will participate in producing as a writer as well as one of the main muppeteers playing both Grover and Cookie Monster characters. A seasoned designer, creative consultant and motivational speaker, with 14 years of experience, specialized in creative design solutions with combined local and international expertise in the fields of urban, architectural, and graphic design. I worked on a variety of projects that include but are not limited to: Corporate Identities, architectural developments, Branding & Packaging, Campaigns, and Media Production. I have also previously worked as the Director of the Architecture Department at DarTec Engineering Consultants, was Design Architect at KAUST’s Research Park Planning & Development Department, and Lead Landscape Architect at ZFP Consultants. I grew up with a passion for puppets and wanted to one day create the same magic he saw from the great Jim Henson on TV through the Muppet Show and Sesame street, wishing to one day inspire and entertain my own community the same way I was. However, that’s not a common career that one can be trained in living in Saudi Arabia let a lone get a job. So I became a Design Architect, and after 11 years of experience in architecture, I decided to follow my dream. So in 2013 I quit my job and became a freelance creative consultant to support my family and started to work on building my career as a puppeteer. firstname.lastname@example.org https://sa.linkedin.com/in/ammarsabban
