Curiosity can be an amazingly powerful thing when you open up to the experience

Alison Young is the solo, female, middle-aged, titanium-reinforced, neurological-movement-disorder-manager, cancer-thriver, and long distance backpacker. She tells her story as the Blissful Hiker.

About the speaker

Alison Young is the "solo, female, middle-aged, titanium-reinforced, neurological-movement-disorder-manager, cancer-thriver and long-distance-backpacker, Blissful Hiker.” She’s walked 12,000 miles on six continents.

With a background as an award winning professional musician and syndicated radio host, she has an enduring curiosity in how we perceive the world aurally. Her art form is “audio narrative” where she combines found sound with personal essay.

Alison is an (unwilling) expert at reinvention. She uses lessons learned from millions of steps in walking meditation to help people manage life’s big questions like, “How do you quit without feeling like a failure?” and “What does it mean to reinvent yourself?”
