Alicia Hauff

The Jasper Hotel

part of a series on Native

About the speaker

Since taking the necessary leap from a community nursing practice to a professional art practice in 2021, Alicia has been riding the waves of change in identity, worldviews, and the nature of relationships to self, each other, and the collective.

She went through a self-described “molting stage” of quiet recalibration and reconnection with her creative spirit. With a blank slate, she began following the breadcrumb trail of what sparks her alive.

Today her work brings together elements of science, natural history, folklore, and most importantly, relationship with the land we call home.

She is married to an ever-supportive husband Matthew, raising 3 young sons and an Aussiedoodle named Louie.

Additional details

We’re back again at the cozy Rosewild lounge at the wonderful Jasper Hotel. Doors will open around 8am, our speaker will begin at 8:15am and we’ll typically wrap up around 9am-ish.

Our theme for February is NATIVE. It was chosen by our Honolulu chapter and illustrated by Jack Soren.

Where you are from shapes who you are. Where you call home influences your worldview. Understanding the traditions of your ancestors can help answer the question, “where do I belong?” Your connections to a place and the past should rightfully be a source of great pride.

By respecting and celebrating the traditions and achievements of native people everywhere, we can discover a deeper sense of connection and unity. What does our history have to teach us? What can we learn from each other?
