Defining punk in Ottobar
About the speaker
Alexander D’Agostino is a Baltimore-based interdisciplinary artist and independent researcher whose work reclaims and reimagines queer histories through performance, installation, and visual art. Since earning a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2009, D’Agostino has explored the intersections of ritual, myth, and memory, using archival materials to create transformative spaces that honor and liberate queer ancestors.
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including the Walters Art Museum, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Vox Populi, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, and the Queens Museum’s Itinerant Performance Art Festival. His projects have been featured in Art of the Grimoire, BmoreArt, Emergency Index, and Transformer20, among others.
D’Agostino’s immersive practice embodies research and performance as acts of queer reclamation, bridging art and history to conjure new modes of collective memory and enchantment.
