A Transgender’s Actor Journey

With the speech “The Only Way Out is Through: A Trangender’s Actor Journey” Samuele Galli will share the stages of his journey that led him to self-acceptance and the desire to bring a different kind of male representation to the world of entertainment. He will highlight the struggles of being trans in Italy and encourage others to embrace their true selves.

About the speaker

Samuele Galli is an actor and screenwriter from Piedmont, based in Milan. Born in 1988 under the sign of Scorpio, he showed a talent and flair for acting from an early age, attending an evening course at Luisella Sala and Alessandro Marchetti's Teatro Studio and writing and acting in several school plays. However, he had different work experiences before coming to the decision to pursue his childhood dream: to become a film actor. In fact, having grown up as a transgender boy, his relationship with his body, the main tool of an actor, has long been conflicting and limiting in relation to his desires - for this reason, psychological and physical work on himself has taken priority in his life. Once he conquered unfettered freedom, the freedom to live as himself in the world, he took his dream back into his hands and since 2022 has been devoting himself fully to realising it. He took part in a number of American method acting workshops (Sara Corso and Michèle Lonsdale Smith) in 2022 and then landed, after passing selections, at the Centro Sperimentale Cinematografica in Milan, where he is currently attending a full-time annual film acting course, directed by Tommaso Bernabei. He participated as a special feature in the film 2win by Stefano Mordini, was a supporting actor in the Helbiz (2020) commercial directed by Riccardo Copreni, and starred in the music videos ViaDiQui by the band WIME (X-Factor 2020) and Fantastica by LOGO - both directed by Silvia Clo Di Gregorio.
