Abida Malik is an inspirational leader of Pakistan who
has been working for women's economic empowerment
since 1994 through her commitment to the Behbud
Association of Pakistan. She graduated from the College of Home Economics in Lahore and has worked relentlessly to increase the organization's sustainability.

Abida was able to persuade her husband to leave his
thriving plastic surgery practice of twenty years in USA and move back to Pakistan in 1988 so that he could serve his homeland and train other doctors. This decision
demonstrates her commitment to Pakistan and willingness to impact her community positively. Drawing on her business expertise, she successfully
transformed Behbud into a sustainable enterprise, ensuring its long-term viability and impact, and shifting it away from reliance on donations. She has initiated an ambitious project, the setting up of a 100-bed, state-of-the-art, Maternal and Children Hospital in the heart of Rawalpindi, Pakistan in which services will be provided to the under-privileged almost free of cost. She is also the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of this Hospital.

In 2024, Abida Malik was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of her services to the community.
