Without self-awareness, you can't experience pleasure. Without candor, you can't express and obtain your needs. Without trust, you can't connect. Without failure, you can't learn. And without fun, the qualities of life are diminished.

El agua evoca tantas cosas... es algo que nos une tanto, es una necesidad que compartimos por completo

El desarrollo sustentable es más social que material

Hay que salir, hay que ir a la playa, hay que disfrutar del agua pero hay que tener cuidado porque si nos quedamos quietos, nos pasa la ola por encima

Estamos exportando muchísima música

Los músicos se están dando cuenta de lo que el producto uruguayo tiene para ofrecer y lo que diferencia el producto uruguayo del exterior

Hay una necesidad de valorizar lo que tenemos, como el candombe que se llevo de alguna manera al rock con Hablan por la espalda

"Bailar cumbia sin culpa" es algo que me parece que está pasando ahora

Veo una revalorización de la cumbia.

Veo cierta tendencia a una revalorización de lo que sucede a nivel local

No me parece que se diga que en Montevideo no pasa nada. No, es mentira.

El Montevideo gris no existe más. Me parece que era algo que definía a otra época que no se aplica a lo que pasa ahora

Technology can help us help the planet. You know, I think a lot of people look at technology as this potentially ominous thing which has done maybe more damage than good to the planet. But I think we're getting to this stage now where we can start to manipulate technology to amend the damage that's been done by it and by us.

Once you’ve met a person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.

I like to look back at it now and laugh at how naive I was because it was an incredibly, incredibly romantic vision that materalized very quickly into a "This is ridiculous. Why am I this far into this?"

Ce que l'on essaye de faire ici, c'est de concevoir une fabrique dans laquelle l'environnement est contrôlé et qui permette à cette plante, qui n'est pas modifiée, de s'exprimer au mieux, dans les meilleures conditions, en utilisant notre technologie.

On essaye de proposer des fabriques de plantes qui utilisent la technologie connue dans nos régions pour pouvoir produire des choses un peu différentes : soit des produits alimentaires, soit des molécules pharmaceutiques.

L'une des grandes fonctions de l'agriculture urbaine, c'est ce caractère social qui renait.

With any successful business or venture, you need to find a gap in the market and the market in the gap.

The 'Summer of the Gun' and war photographers, and those guys -it's kind of idealized to think that my work is going to have an effect because it didn't have an effect on the crime rate, it didn't have an effect on the way the police treat the residents. But what it did was, I think, it made other communities aware of actually what was really going on in their city. They chose to look at it in the paper, as opposed to turning it off on the news. That awareness is a first step, I think, in at least you acknowledge the fact that you live in Canton -relatively safe- or Fells Point, or Federal Hill, or Butcher's Hill, and this is going on literally down the street from you.

I tell my students: I don't take sides, I take photographs. So, gang member, passerby -I don't judge. That's not for me to do. I'm there to record and to interact.

When you're out being a photojournalist, it's very important to keep the human aspect in mind and not just be an observer. You're there to observe -it's a very fine line- you're there to observe, but you're also there to be a human being first.

If you want to be a good photojournalist, you have to care. Don't buy into that 'we don't help people, you have to stay outside the situation.'

If you want to get into photojournalism, nowadays, you really have to come up with an idea and a series, or a story to sell to a publication.

The future of photojournalism is project-based.
