Zam Johnson

Zam Johnson, raised in Los Angeles, is a highly accomplished musician and painter based in Berlin since 1987.

Starting as a drummer in L.A., he worked with renowned artists like Gino Vannelli, Iron Butterfly, The Beach Boys, and Tom Petty. In the early '80s, he explored synthesizer work for avant-garde film and dance, founding "The Science and Industry Performing Art Group."

Currently, Zam is a sought-after freelance drummer and percussionist, excelling in various music styles. His career includes extensive touring, teaching workshops, and recording numerous albums across Europe. Zam Johnson stands out as an extraordinary musician with a rich and diverse artistic journey.

In the early '80s, Zam had various exhibitions in the 'Art-Underground' of Los Angeles. Additionally, he organized live-action painting events in L.A., later in Berlin with action painter Norton Wisdom, and gained recognition as a performance artist.

Johnson describes his painting style as 'Primitive Abstractions and a visual orchestra for the eyes.'

He went on to undertake commissioned works and had successful exhibitions in Morocco, Munich, Los Angeles, and Berlin.
