View From My Run: Fun Run and Mini Art Class with Lori Richmond

November 18, 9:30am - 11:00am EST. Hosted at Friends Work Here

About this FieldTrip

Calling all creatively-curious runners and athletically-curious artists! Lace up and hit the road with children’s author-illustrator and Brooklyn runner Lori Richmond for an inspiring 2-ish-mile outdoor fun run followed by a mini art class. Lori was featured by Runner’s World for her View From My Run Instagram project where she documents her race training by drawing something she sees on each run, in the same amount of time as the run.

Participants will meet in Brooklyn at Friends Work Here and warm up with a brief 15-minute talk about the View From My Run project and how running parallels art-making. Then, you’ll hit the pavement as a group and enjoy observing the surrounding neighborhood while pausing midway for a brief photo-taking break. Post-run, you’ll return to Friends Work Here and cool down with a relaxed, casual mini-art class where runners will create a timed drawing based on a photo of their choice. Lori will show printed samples of her work and coach runners with tips and tricks as they make their own beautiful keepsake of the run. No art experience necessary! All art supplies will be provided. Participants should come dressed to run, be able to run an easy 10:00+ pace, and should bring a smartphone to take photos.
