Vanessa Stacey (Ngāti Kuia/Te Atiawa) has over twenty years of experience in Creative Arts and Arts Education, having worked extensively across the Music, Television, Theatre and Film industries.
Vanessa is a graduate of both a CPIT Jazz School and Toi Whakaari, and spent five years working in the U.K. as a musician, TV presenter and actor, whilst managing her own production company, producing youth content for Channel 5 Television.
Since returning to Aotearoa, Vanessa has coordinated and directed Whitireias’ Screen Acting Diploma Course, been an Artist in Residence and guest tutor for Massey, Ucol and Toi Whakaari. She has also worked extensively as an actor, writer, producer, director, publicist, tour management, festival curator and producer both independently and with The Drop LTD for large-scale events including Tora Tora Tora Festival, Erupt Arts Festival, Home Grown and Summerset Festivals.
Vanessa is now at Creative Capital Artist Trust, curating all Ngā Toi Māori and Indigenous content for CUPADUPA and is the Director of the New Zealand Fringe Festival, New Zealand's largest open-access arts festival.
