About the speaker
Tres Altman is a man of many creative talents and passions. As the founder and principal songwriter of the band The Paper Stars, Tres has been committing himself to exploring the depths of human emotion, connection and nature – by creating what he’s called a sonic tonic, writing and performing dreamy, Americana-tinged songs that he says try to capture “little capsules of solace.”
A music review from Denver Syntax, a Denver literary, art and music literary publication, said of Tres’ album with The Paper Stars, “Altman’s songs are vast – in sonic dimension and lyrical aptitude. Without a doubt, Altman has a grasp on that mysterious place where the words and music intersect. Both transcendent and secular. Altman’s lyrics wind through western canyons of love lost and every dawn of solace washed in bright lights.”
What makes Tres such an interesting human is that he also extends that everyday honesty and soulfulness into everything he gives his energy to, from his work as a design and build contractor to his family to multiple other creative pursuits.
In Tres’ own words, “I’m a cultural anthropologist with a masters in philosophy —which, by some circuitous path, should, in theory, make me a better songwriter. Oh, and I’m also a carpenter, a father, a part-time gardener, and I enjoy recreating in the wild with my friends and family.”
Come spend the morning with this modern, eclectic renaissance man, while he shares stories and songs that both make you think and make you feel.
