Clay Connection: How Pottery Grounded Stine Dulong Through Touch
About the speaker
Our theme is TOUCH
Unlike sight or sound, touch cannot be conveyed across distance through screens and speakers. Touch invites us to slow down, pay attention, and come closer.
In this event, we will be interrogating how to navigate our world and how to be more grounded through touch. Bring your curiosity and re-imagination.
SPEAKER: STINE DULONG
In 2013, Stine quit her corporate lawyer job to become a full time potter. For her, touching clay was a gateway into transformation. Not only did it become her career, and change the structure of her life on the surface, but it fundamentally shifted who she is and how she perceives the world. Through pottery, she found a way into a slower, more mindful and connected way of existing. A less painful and more joyous way to be. She had found a profession that allowed her to be who she really is.
Having experienced such a powerful transformation through working with clay, Stine realised that she had been given this gift to share it with the world, so she started offering classes at her studio, SkandiHus.
Today, she has three studios from which her and her team run classes. They teach an average of 400 students each week, and bearing witness to the profound effects working with clay has on almost everyone who walks through their doors is the greatest privilege of Stine’s life.
