About the speaker
Diversity, in terms of culture, language and more, is dear to Alexandr Foy, our next CreativeMornings/Helsinki speaker. With this month’s theme, Touch, the mind tends to veer to tactile sensations, but what if it dealt with building connections – getting in touch? Starting from scratch and interrelatedness are some of the topics covered at the free breakfast talk enjoyed by a creative crowd.
At present, aiding others’ integration into Finland is an overarching topic in the many ventures of Russian-born Alexandr, who was once forced to leave behind his former life in Saint Petersburg due to his involvement in political activism. Currently employed as a social worker, Alexandr’s strength lies in the networks he has established and strives to make available to others.
Alexandr is the chairperson of Globe Art Point, which advocates cultural equity, diversity and inclusion in the arts and cultural sector in Finland. He has also co-founded Tochka.fi, an online platform that covers current events in Russian, as well as Svenska.fi, a non-profit that supports people who choose Swedish as their integration language in Finland.

The core mission of Globe Art Point is advocating cultural equity, diversity and inclusion in the arts and cultural sector in Finland. G.A.P also serves as an information centre and meeting point for artists, cultural workers and arts & cultural institutions in Finland.
Our focus is on Finland-based professional artists, cultural workers and cultural entrepreneurs with diverse backgrounds being acknowledged and their untapped potential fully utilised. G.A.P, together with our stakeholders and collaborators, is dedicated to improving the existing structures and building a society free from cultural discrimination or any other form of oppression. Our goal is to create constructive and action-driven dialogues with the entire society, from local grassroots to the national level.
Stadin AO, Helsinki Vocational College and Adult Institute provides both young and adult students with a diverse learning environment and supports students’ well-being, broad and practical vocational skills development and lifelong learning. It also provides students with knowledge and skills necessary in further studies and promotes employment. Each study unit is assessed independently in real working-life situations.
