About the speaker
Tim Scott Jr. is a husband, father of four, dedicated music professional, entrepreneur, and community advocate with deep roots in Buffalo, NY and a career spanning nearly two decades in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tim’s passion for music was sparked before he could talk, propelling him forward as a drummer in his grandfather’s church, going forward to play across multiple notable Gospel and Jazz spaces. By 2005, while studying at Charlotte's Northwest School of the Arts, he embarked on his first tour, launching a career defined by talent, versatility, and a passion for developing opportunities for the creative community.
During his time at North Carolina Central University, Tim toured with the Grammy Award-winning group The Foreign Exchange, cementing his reputation as a dynamic performer and professional musician. Over the years, he has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Little Brother, Jeff Kashiwa, Branford Marsalis, Fantasia, Phife of A Tribe Called Quest, Robert Glasper, Kim Burrell and many others.
In 2013, inspired by the influential Clarence Avant, Tim expanded his career into event production, debuting with a show for the Steve Miller Band. This new chapter led to producing events for top-tier artists including Missy Elliott, Norah Jones, Chicago, Ghost-Note, Gladys Knight, Pat Benatar, and Christina Aguilera to name a few.
Amid the challenges of 2020, Tim co-founded Communities in Concert, a pioneering initiative that provided steady work for Charlotte’s music community by transforming public spaces into safe, no-contact concert venues. Today, he co-owns a leading entertainment company with his wife, delivering comprehensive services in artist marketing, consulting, tour direction, management, and staffing. Through his work, Tim continues to shape and support artists at every stage, nurturing their journeys from local talent to global success.
