Tae Kim speaks on his experiences in product design, speaking to the struggles and joys of creating a company around outdoor equipment.
About the speaker
Tae Kim grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and moved to the Midwest to study design and painting. After working for Ford Motor Company as a car designer, he moved to the Bay Area to attend Stanford University for Product Design. Tae served as the Design Director of The North Face and Timbuk2 for several years before he decided to launch Alite Designs. The idea was to create an outdoor company that made it simple and fun for people to enjoy being outside, and to enjoy each other. Tae’s favorite movie is NeverEnding Story and his favorite Muppet is Fozzie the Bear.
