SunSets co-founders Andrea Boston & Nia Johnson speak on the creation, importance, challenges of the monthly salon gathering.
About the speaker
SunSets is a monthly salon gathering that connects Baltimore’s creative community for an evening of artistic expression and collaboration.
The space is a tribute to the cultural salons that nurtured the artists and thinkers of the Harlem Renaissance. Each month, guests are invited into a new location for discussion with featured artists, intergenerational connection, a little wine, and live music.
SunSets is a space where participants can “take off their cool”, be themselves, and tap into new ideas.

Things just happen. You have to learn to roll with the punches and just relax.
We also learned a ton, this past year. I know I have learned the virtue of just calming the fuck down. It's important.
Nia is always saying, 'It's okay, we're learning. It's fine.' So, I'm learning to adapt that mentality...just let go. And release myself from the bondage of worry and perfection, and always ask for help when I need it.
I've learned the value of collaboration and being less controlling, and allowing the space to just be whatever that space is gonna be.
It's very much a testament to how far you can go with just a dollar and a dream.
