What are FieldTrips?
FieldTrips are meetups to interact, learn and collaborate in an effort to level-up your creative life.
We’re limiting these events to only 25 people, they’re like an intimate dinner party. Your absence will be felt so please make sure that you can definitely attend if you sign up. Also, we’re in the prototyping phase, so come with an open mind and be prepared for anything.
Thanks for participating! We’re lucky to have you.
Studio Visit + Experiential Architecture Roundtable
– Hosted at Michael Hsu Office of Architecture
About this FieldTrip
In this studio tour and conversation with architect Michael Hsu, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the design process behind some of Austin’s most prominent recent architecture and planning projects including Code Next, the South Congress Hotel, Canopy, Mellow Johnny’s, and Uchi. Michael will discuss the architectural process of the firm - visioning, strategy and follow-through and look at how to use design narratives to create a conversant experience through lighting, material selections and the creative collaboration with artisans, chefs and craftspeople.
Chameleon Cold-Brew is Austin’s original consciously-crafted, organic cold-brew coffee.
Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, formerly Michael Hsu Design Office, was formed in 2005 with the goal of producing locally-engaged, design driven architecture and interiors in Austin. MHOA endeavors to create livable, neighborhood-oriented urban spaces. Our work includes diverse projects ranging from mixed-use developments to original commercial interiors and residences. MHOA advocates a simple, edited design palette, using available materials and techniques to create unexpected results. MHOA believes in the innate beauty of unadorned natural materials, carefully chosen, composed and crafted.
