Steve Rio dives deep into the rituals that have helped him move into a more settled view of his life.
Finding ways to create rituals that helps overcome challenges you can face in life when you are not in a box
About the speaker
For August's event exploring the global theme of 'ritual', we are excited to be joined by social impact entrepreneur, futurist, philosopher, and transformational coach Steve Rio.
Steve Rio is the Co-Founder and CEO of Enfold. He’s a psychospiritual coach, psychedelic guide, musician, entrepreneur, and investor. His life’s work is focused on raising consciousness and helping people realize their full potential. Steve sits on the board of TheraPsil and is an advisor to a number of companies and institutions at the forefront of the psychedelic renaissance.
Before Enfold, Steve spent close to two decades in the agency world. Much of that time was as Founder and CEO of Briteweb, an international brand and digital agency focused on the social sector. Notable clients included the Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, David Suzuki, and dozens of other amazing organizations. Briteweb was ahead of its time in terms of remote and distributed teams, culture, and social mission. They went fully remote in 2015, and had people working in 25 cities around the world. Before agency life, Steve was a professional musician working in diverse genres such as jazz, funk, rock, punk, metal, electronic, and afro-beat.
Enfold, Steve’s current vocation, offers a groundbreaking psychospiritual model for healing and personal growth. Enfold combines psychedelic intensives, coaching, and community to help individuals heal trauma, expand consciousness, and reach their full potential.
As usual, we asked Steve some probing questions to give us a deeper glimpse into his life and relationship with creativity:
How do you define creativity and apply it in your life and career?
To me creativity is part of our inherent life force. Creativity is about being a clear enough conduit for life's energy to flow through us. It applies to every aspect of my work and life.
Where do you find your best creative inspiration or energy?
Psychedelic experiences, meditation, inprovisational moments, long walks in the woods, dreams.
What’s one piece of creative advice or a tip you wish you’d known as a young person?
The more authentic and honest you can be, the better your work will be. The moment you begin thinking about the outcome of a project, you've lost the moment.
Who (living or dead) would you most enjoy hearing speak at CreativeMornings?
Prince or Rick Rubin.*
What did you learn from your most memorable creative failure?
I learned that there is no such thing as failure, as long as you learn something. I also learned that no amount of hardwork is going to get you anywhere if it's not combined with building a social network in the field you're trying to make it in.
What are you reading these days?
Mostly books on spiritual awakening, Buddhism, and psychology.
How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger?
I help people realize their full potential and that they are part of a loving universe.
What's the most recent thing you learned (big or small)?
I have everything inside of me I could ever need. It's all about getting out of the way and allowing god/source to flow through you (creative life force).
What are you proudest of in your life?
My commitment to being a father, husband, and friend. To holding integrity and listening to my heart throughout my life when it was most important.
If you could do anything now, what would you do?
Exactly what I'm doing (but with more administrative support).
What music are you listening to these days?
Mostly ambient, a little rap, and then a pretty wide range of stuff outside of that.
When you get stuck creatively, what is the first thing you do to get unstuck?
Move on to something else and circle back when the flow comes back. Long walks in the woods or other contemplative practices like breathwork or meditation.
