A tireless mentor for underserved technology communities Stephanie Herrera wants to leave this earth with the amount of privilege she was born into. Her life journey from zero privilege into the role she occupies now, a director of Salesforce at a marketing technology company, is as inspiring as it is all too rare. She credits her resilience and success to the communities that helped her grow because they helped her see things in herself that she never knew existed. In this talk, Stephanie considers what it means to be part of a community; that, what you get from your community is important, but often, the most essential ingredient is how much you give of yourself.
About the speaker
Stephanie Herrera is a tireless leader and mentor for technology communities in Austin. She helped to found Austin’s chapter of Salesforce Women in Tech, PepUp Tech, Texas Dreamin, and Salesforce Saturdays—which works within the Salesforce platform to grow individual skill sets through peer mentorship. Through her leadership, Salesforce Saturdays has grown to 50 new chapters globally. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Merivis Foundation, helping veterans and spouses of veterans to help them get started in a career in Salesforce.
Stephanie got her start in technology 19 years ago at Dell, and has since worked for small startups and Apple. She is currently a Salesforce MVP, and the Director of Salesforce and Business Systems at Spredfast. She enjoys using technology as a means for personal and professional development, across all socioeconomic backgrounds, using her own career path as a road map and inspiration. Stephanie was recognized in 2016 for her efforts to support others as a Finalist for Mentor of the Year in Austin’s Under 40 Awards.
