About the speaker
Kiam was born in the Philippines and speaks Tagalog, English, and Spanish. They are a US Navy Veteran, with 7 years of service as a medical assistant and respiratory therapist. They earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance from Pacific College of Health and Science. They are passionate about integrating theory and practice, body and mind, and masculine and feminine forces. Kiam is a practicing visual and movement artist, creating performances and art installations that explore approaches to decolonization through creative embodiment, collaboration, and cultural healing. Kiam also leads mindful movement workshops and holistic wellness coaching sessions throughout Chicago, virtually, and beyond.
