Sophie helps us to find what’s essential in us and in our creative practice.

Fiber artist, podcaster, and co-author of the book “Invisible Things,” Sophie Miller shares her creative journey of switching homes and mediums while searching to find and express what’s essentially “her.” Throughout her journey as an artist, Sophie’s creative work has been multi-faceted, but her essential character and the themes she’s explored are timeless. She believes that all of us can access and express our essential selves through intentional inquiry into our creative process— rather than focusing on the outcomes or the medium. When we do this, our work becomes a thread of self-expression that leads us more deeply into our authentic selves and our most creative work.

About the speaker

Sophie Miller is an English fiber artist and New York Times Bestselling author/co-creator of Children's book series 'Invisible Things' along with her husband Andy J. Pizza.

In her textile artwork, Sophie uses paint, dye, fabric collage, machine and hand embroidery to capture and record things found in the woods and her home and garden. Her work seeks to communicate the emotional connections we hold to the things we tend to, the spaces we inhabit and the tiny treasures found when practicing presence.

She has a BA in Textiles from Huddersfield University.

Sophie also works editing and writing for the podcast 'Creative Pep Talk', writing and prop creation for Andy J. Pizza and mural painting.
Sophie enjoys living a rich creative life in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and 3 kids, bringing together different areas of creativity with themes of mindfulness, emotional health, home and big dedication to small details.
