Síofra Caherty

Jump the Hedges founder & designer Síofra Caherty is this months speaker, joining us at the Tara Building on Fri June 27th.

Jump The Hedges is an award-winning sustainable design studio founded by Síofra after working in the fashion industry for brands such as Adidas, Levi’s and Portwest.

The studio has a material and waste led approach to product creation as opposed to the traditional fashion industry ‘design led’ approach. This approach ensures that waste material is fully utilised to create valuable and long lasting products. Bags are created from reclaimed truck tarpaulin, aeroplane seat parts and waste leather and clothing is created from regenerative and organic materials.

The studio was awarded Future Maker of Ireland Awards in 2015, 2016 and 2021 and a prestigious RDS Craft Award in 2022. The studio is regularly featured in the media and has been featured in Design Milk, The Irish Times, RTÉ news series ‘Climate Heroes’ and most recently Positive News.

Most recently the studio launched an innovative Farm to Garment project that tracked each step of the complex journey of a t-shirt from field to factory floor.
