“Instead of running from death, can we hold it close and learn from it?”
About the speaker
Shoshana wants all stories to be faster, stronger, and better looking. As the Editorial Director at IDEO, she’s helped lead projects on redesigning death and modern Jewish life. The question at the root of these endeavors is always the same: How might human-centered design change our experience for the better? She also runs IDEO’s blog, The Octopus.
Before joining IDEO, Shoshana was Senior Editor at WIRED and the founder of WIRED Design. She cofounded the do-it-yourself design magazine ReadyMade with one business partner, 10 credit cards, and 10 interns. ReadyMade was a finalist for National Magazine Awards in 2005 and 2006 and was acquired by the publisher of Better Homes & Gardens in 2006. She has written for: The New York Times, Travel + Leisure, WIRED, Sunset, Marie Claire, Amazon, Popular Science, SPIN, Salon, and many other publications. She’s the author of ReadyMade: How to Make Almost Everything and a forthcoming book from Simon & Schuster with Dr. BJ Miller, titled How to Die: A Field Guide. Buy her coffee and ask her anything.
