Shawn Welcome

Shawn Welcome is an Afro-Guyanese American whose passion for writing inspires, entertains, encourages, and educates people worldwide. His talent has taken him to various parts of the globe, where he has spoken, performed, and facilitated writing and performance workshops. In 2006, Shawn founded "Diverse Word," the longest-running weekly open mic in Central Florida, as a way to serve others and amplify the voice of his community.

Shawn has written numerous commercials, performed, and created content for various organizations locally and nationally. He has organized several educational poetry events for universities, jails, and public schools. Besides, he holds a BA in English Literature, is an MA candidate for Sociology, and was appointed Poet Laureate of Central Florida. Shawn is a founding Next Level Speakers Academy 2.0 member and a devoted father to five children, living with his wife, Jannah, in Orlando, FL.
