Sam Furness shows us that curiosity is the magic dust of a creative process.
Sam Furness has spent a lot of time being curious and vulnerable. Sam talks about taking on new projects, learning from others, and stretching our creative muscles.
About the speaker
Sam Furness has an urge for creative exploration - which has frequently been a major part of his life - but more recently a busy job as a music manager working with some of biggest acts in the UK, coupled with the general whirlwind of London life wasn’t leaving much room for purpose anywhere else.
At the end of 2015, he knew that something needed to change.
Deciding that 2016 would be a year filled with change, risk and bold creativity - he set himself a challenge and the rules were simple: pursue one new creative project, each month, during his spare time in something he had not done before. The project was called 12x16.
Journeying between adventures in origami, animation, food, physical fitness, storytelling and more, what started as a challenge to nurture his creative self, quickly blossomed into a new way of living that not only offered fresh perspectives on how to see the world, but also demonstrated how to effectively come up with bold creative ideas (and have some fun!).
Building on the success of 12x16, Sam has since delivered a headline installation for the London Design Festival and set up Channel Twelve - a platform dedicated to experiments in living creatively and the knock-on positive impact that has on all areas of your life.
Whether you are looking to broaden your horizons, reclaim your inner creativity or simply disrupt your daily routine, Sam believes everyone can benefit from a creative curiosity-boost.
