About the speaker

Nathaniel Stern is an awkward artist, writer, and teacher, who likes awkward art, writing, and students. He holds a 50/50 dual appointment as Professor of Art and Design / Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Nathaniel’s art — across ecological, interactive, and more traditional forms — has been shown internationally. He is the author of Interactive Art and Embodiment: The Implicit Body as Performance (Gylphi 2013) and Ecological Aesthetics: artful tactics for humans, nature, and politics (Dartmouth 2018). He lives in Milwaukee with his wife, Kate, their billion children, and a truly evil cat.
