What are FieldTrips?
FieldTrips are meetups to interact, learn and collaborate in an effort to level-up your creative life.
We’re limiting these events to only 25 people, they’re like an intimate dinner party. Your absence will be felt so please make sure that you can definitely attend if you sign up. Also, we’re in the prototyping phase, so come with an open mind and be prepared for anything.
Thanks for participating! We’re lucky to have you.
RAWHIDE: Revealing Materials
– Hosted at Fortuna Monsoon @ HATCH Workshop
About this FieldTrip
Rolls of naturally dyed waxed canvas and rustic leather are transformed into finished goods at the Fortuna Monsoon studio.
Chris Franks, the designer and craftsman behind this Austin-born brand, will lead us on an investigation of leather and its properties. Examining rawhide, vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leather, we’ll see how leather has become one of history’s (and nature’s) most amazing materials. In this session, we’ll discuss the processes of tanning, touch examples, and make a small tooled-leather design in the studio.
We’ll be meeting at the Hatch Workshop in East Austin, where large tables, throngs of hand tools and projects-in-progress decorate the simple but beautiful space.
Chameleon Cold-Brew is Austin’s original consciously-crafted, organic cold-brew coffee.
