Peter speaks on Critical
About the speaker
Co-Founder of non-alcoholic beer brand Heaps Normal and Founder of Electric and Analog.
Entrepreneur. Brand Whisperer. Non-alcoholic.
How did an ADHD-suffering, obsessive compulsive designer build a non-alcoholic beer brand that, within 18 months of launching, became one of Australia’s fastest growing consumer brands with thousands of die-hard fans and a valuation of $58million?
Having lost his alcoholic father to suicide at the age of 11, Pete grew up with a chip on his shoulder (daddy issues do that to a kid). After a misspent youth, he became a designer and managed to channel that energy into his work. After a career on both client and agency side across 3 different continents, Pete started branding and design studio, Electric And Analog. After a stint of imposter syndrome in year 3, he decided to test himself - could he build a brand of his own, without any client input, and truly make something of it?
Scratching an itch, Pete started Heaps Normal in 2020. Less that two years later, the non-alcoholic beer startup is served in over 4,000 venues around Australia, New Zealand and Asia. It counts some of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs as it’s investors (the founders of Koala, Linktree, Who Gives A Crap, Milkrun and Adore Beauty to name a few) and has won numerous accolades including being named a Breakthrough Brand in 2021 by Interbrand, winning gold at the World Beer Awards, 2 x Pause Awards, and 2 x Telstra Best of Business Awards.
Through his talks and brand consulting, Pete shares how to start, build or reinvent your business to become a market-leading brand that turns customers into die-hard fans.
Pete’s work has featured on Wired, Monocle, Tech Crunch, Mashable and the Daily Mail to name a few.
Pete is known for having a different point of view, speaking his truth, and providing genuine value to anyone he encounters.
