About the speaker

Patrick is a social entrepreneur. Believing in the principle of ‘doing good is good business’ he has been instrumental in establishing the organisations that have been built up around one of the most successful craft-producer organizations in South Africa -Streetwires Artist Collective c.c.

He is the founder & director of The Indalo Project a project presently working with 15 craft producerorganisations to drive sustainability through design & marketing. In August 2009 he opened Kwalapa – an Organic Wholefoods Centre. This is a realization of an expanding direction from ‘business with a social cause’ to, ‘sustainable business development’ and he is building on the philosophy of ‘being the change you want to see’. Coming from a world of creative development, serial social entrepreneur Patrick Schofield is heading up a group developing Thundafund which is an African based crowdsouce funding platform for creative and innovation projects. The site is currently under development with the launch date set for the end of 2012. Patrick will share the latest developments and opportunities in crowdfunding and crowdsourcing. Highlighting local successes and some local start-ups that are pushing the envelope in Africa.
