About the speaker

Pascal Jaquet (aka Sapin) is an illustrator-recycler in Lausanne. Born in 1963, he studied art at the Institut St. Luc in Brussels. His illustrations have been found in advertising, set designs, and individual expositions and can be found in the press (l’Hebdo, Journal de Genève, 24 Heures, Le Temps, Voir, Cosmopolitan, etc). In the early 80s, his graffiti had him known as “le sprayeur de Lausanne”.

Since 1999, he has been sharing his independent experience at the COFOP vocational school as a visual arts teacher. For the last 10 years, he’s been commissioned by the City of Lausanne to decorate its electrical boxes with spray paint. He has completed over 200 projects with his COFOP apprentices and 40 works on his own.

His personal work centers on recycling, allowing recycled cardboard to live a second life. He’s had 5 exhibitions of “cartonnages” at Les Docks and La Sonnette gallery in Lausanne and has collaborated as a "cardboard workshop" facilitator with the SIA architects, Colombier vocational school, and Lausanne’s “la nuit des musées”.
