About the speaker
Niqqi van der Aa is a teacher of Sketching, Textiles and History Fashion at Richard Robinson Academy in Ottawa. Niqqi has a background in fashion design, cosplay, drag and costume design, as well as almost 20 years of experience sewing. “Threads” are a way of life for her.
In her talk will challenge the audience to take a deep dive into the clothing they are (hopefully) wearing. Let’s celebrate the global collaboration that is fashion, as we follow the thread of a 50, 000 year story of human creativity. Show up in your best threads that express who you are!

About the theme:
Our theme for November is THREAD.
It was chosen by our Derby chapter and illustrated by Carla Dee, and is presented by our global partner Adobe.
Have you ever pulled on a loose thread in a sweater or sock? Things can unravel quickly.
The creative process can feel like that. A nagging thought, an imperfect bit, or a big tangled mess. But maybe that thread is trying to tell you something. Follow it and see where it takes you.
