About the speaker

Nicolai Czumaj-Bront was born in Chicago in 1978, studied Psychology and Philosophy at Kent State University, Ohio (1996-1999) and graduated in Industrial Design at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1999-2002 BA in Industrial Design.)

In 2002, he began working for the design and engineering
consultant group, DiMonte Group in Aurora, IL. During that time he was lead product developer at Beoform. In 2005 he joined Haworth, Inc. and is currently part of the Industrial Design Studio in Holland MI.

Nicolai Czumaj-Bront believes that design is life. Design is the beauty that we see and the passion that we feel. It tells meaningful stories, shows that we care, and tries to inspire. Design asks us to challenge ideas and to solve problems thoughtfully. Design is not about following trends but creating them, “Design is everything.” “I want to bring an idea down to its essence without sacrificing what makes it desirable and meaningful. With this in mind, I try to create solutions that are both simple and exciting.”
