WEIRD
About the speaker
When I first spoke with this month's speaker, Michael Frank, about whether he felt comfortable tackling the theme of 'Weird', his response was this: "I’m pretty confident folks will find our project interesting and fun, but weird is in the eye of the beholder." Given that he's the Curator-in-Chief of The Museum Of Bad Art (MOBA), I'd say that's a perfect description of why we wanted him as our next CreativeMornings speaker.
Founded in 1993, The Museum of Bad Art is the world's only museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition, and celebration of bad art in all its forms. As the only museum currently dedicated to bringing the worst of art to the widest of audiences, Michael and his team feel morally compelled to explore new, more creative ways of bringing this priceless collection of quality bad art to a global audience.
With a collection of more than 600 pieces, MOBA maintains a curated website as well as three bricks-and-mortar galleries, all in the Boston area, including an iconic residence at the Somerville Theater, located in Davis Square. You can see some of the collection here.
