Good things can come from bad things.
Melanie G.S. Walby, Design Director at Pollen Midwest, talks about loss, family, joy, and our relationship with time.
About the speaker
After six years of working in advertising like Vision Van Gogh, SPINit, Vetta-Zelo, FLM+, Medial Loft, and Ideas That Kick, Melanie made the switch to the nonprofit world working as Communications Manager of Juxtaposition Arts and the Design Director at Pollen Midwest. She’s a former board member and former Associate Director of the Sustainable Design Committee for AIGA Minnesota, she was recently named one of AdFed’s “32 Under 32” and has been featured in Communication Arts, AIGA Minnesota Design Show, blackswho.design, and Adobe Creative Jam.
Melanie is mostly known for design and community organizing, but this (NO)vember she’ll speak on the complexities of grief after losing a large number of family members in a short amount of time. It’s the things that happen outside of the office that can shape our careers the most. Through understanding grief in all its forms she’s learned to get intentionally lost in healthy creative and spiritual outlets of healing and rest.
