Mahesh Basavanna will share the journey of Kiru - a farmer backed company - from growing the native millet to manufacturing and packaging of the healthy snacks.

About the speaker

Mahesh Basavanna, along with his brother Chandrashekhar, is from Thenkahalli - a village in Malavalli Taluk in Mandya district, Karnataka. Together they decided to introduce millets to the urban populace in the form of snacks and founded Kiru, with a mission to make healthy food available to everyone.
The intent with Kiru is to provide healthy food made from locally sourced millet working directly with the farmers. Kiru follows sustainability right from production to the delivery processes, covering all economic and environmental aspects.
Mahesh is also the Founder and Managing Director of McD BERL, an energy efficient building design company and consultant to IFC, World Bank on sustainability and energy conservation.
