About the speaker
Lisa Jakub is an author, speaker, yoga teacher, and retired actor who has more than forty film and television credits to her name, including Mrs. Doubtfire and Independence Day. At the age of twenty-two, Lisa retired from her eighteen-year acting career in search of a life that felt more authentic to her. She has found a happier, more purposeful life as a writer, teacher, and an advocate for mental health awareness.
Lisa leads workshops on writing and mindfulness all over the country and teaches therapeutically-focused yoga classes for combat Veterans with post-traumatic stress.
Her first book was a memoir, You Look Like That Girl: a child actor stops pretending and finally grows up. Her latest book is Not Just Me: Anxiety, Depression, and Learning to Embrace Your Weird.
Live Arts is a volunteer theater that has given a home to drama, dance, comedy, music and performance art since 1990. We strive to present high-caliber work unlike anything you’d expect to find in the area. We look to surprise, to delight, to astonish, to move the public, and above all, through live performing arts, forge a deep and lasting bond with our community of volunteers, our community of audience members, our community of Charlottesville and beyond.

The Fralin Museum of Art
The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia is dedicated to creating an environment in which the largest possible share of its diverse constituencies, including members of the University community and the general public, can study and learn from the direct experience of works of art.
