A member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma and a descendant of the revered Chief Quanah Parker, Nocona comes from a lineage rich in leadership and artistry. His upbringing, steeped in creativity—from his father’s drawing and painting to his grandmothers’ intricate quilt and beadwork designs—laid the foundation for his remarkable career.

Nocona holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in art education from the University of New Mexico. His fascination with the evolution of traditional Native art into contemporary movements has shaped his unique artistic voice. By reinterpreting traditional forms into modern portraits, Nocona captures the essence of the "modern Indian," both in his subjects and in himself.
