Don't be an assclown, just tell the story.
Sometimes your first idea is your best idea.
'Yes, and' is one of the guiding principles of improv. What it's teaching you is that you have to accept the scene that your scene partners have created without belittling it, without disagreeing with it, and without negating it, and you have to move the story forward.
This isn't 'everything happens for a reason'. Fuck that shit.
This isn't 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger', because what if it does kill you?
