Kirsten Stanisich explores how constrains in architecture can be used to create spaces with freedom and opportunities

About the speaker

Kirsten studied architecture at the University of Melbourne and joined SJB Architects as a registered architect in 1995. Realising her affinity lay more closely with interior design she joined SJB Interiors on a permanent basis. Kirsten was instrumental in establishing SJB Interiors in Sydney and was appointed a director in 2005. Kirsten has a passion for new and original design that pushes the industry further, and is currently a board member of the Design Institute of Australia.

Kirsten directed a short documentary film ‘6 Chairs’, on the disciplines of graphics, fashion and architecture. The film was screened at ‘Unlimited: Designing for the Asia Pacific’. Kirsten has also been a juror for the IDEA Awards, Australian Interior Design Awards, National Women in Construction Awards and has written for Artichoke magazine.
