Ana Gallegos y Reinhardt led this month’s attendees on an inspiring walk down memory lane, celebrating youth culture and creativity in Santa Fe.

Lifelong Santa Fean Ana Gallegos Y Reinhardt shared the journey that led her from psychiatric nursing to founding a series of transformative youth organizations beginning in the 1980s, such as Kids Actors Theatre, Santa Fe Performing Arts School, Warehouse 21, and Zona del Sol. Along the way, she treated us to many stories, including one of a memorable concert in the graffiti-covered Warehouse 21 boys’ restroom that later became a local tourist attraction! We were inspired by Ana’s call to remember our youth and support today’s young people in the creative outlets they seek.

About the speaker

Ana Gallegos y Reinhardt, a lifelong Santa Fean, has dedicated her career to empowering youth through the arts. Drawing inspiration from her father, Ralph Sabu Gallegos, a NM state legislator focused on social justice, Ana began her journey as a nurse specializing in adolescent psychiatry.

In the 1980s, she noticed a lack of arts programs for youth in Santa Fe, leading her to co-founding transformative organizations like the Santa Fe Performing Arts School & Company, Warehouse 21, and Zona del Sol. Through these initiatives, Ana fostered creative environments that shaped generations of young artists and community leaders.

Ana will share her experiences working with teens, reflecting on youth culture, creativity, and her enduring motto: Visualize. Create. Manifest. Never Give Up!
