About the speaker
Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen is a many coloured bird. Textile and conceptual artist, trainer and professional speaker, she displays a beautiful lightness of touch in describing her life-defining brittle bone disease as a ‘piquant characteristic’ rather than a disability.
This somewhat subversive challenging of often lazily adopted labels stands her in good stead to deconstruct our monthly theme of ‘UGLY‘ and open up new territory in our minds around the invisibility of minorities in society and recent artistic fascination with the idea of the ‘beautiful mutant’.
Come join us for this first Creative Mornings/HEL for 2015 where Jenni-Juulia will look less at the ‘dis’ and more at the ‘ability’ in challenging our preconceptions about this UGLY four letter word.

I'm not going to say the beauty is in the eye of the beholder because it's not true. Neither is it true that 'we are all disabled in some way' - no you are not. — Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen
