Using reflection to establish truths about your identity and purpose

Jen Veralle talks about her reflective journey of becoming sober, starting several businesses, and using reflection as a tool to uncover purpose in her work.

About the speaker

Jen Veralle is an advocate for and creator of healthy social experiences that decentralize alcohol. Her journey spans two decades of alcohol misuse, a decade of an alcohol-free lifestyle, corporate roles, and entrepreneurial ventures. At the height of burnout in a corporate environment at age 40, largely due to alcohol misuse, she took time to rebuild her life. She began an entrepreneurial journey — creating a culture of one — allowing her to make different choices in her daily life that didn’t centralize alcohol. With a lens over a decade long, she continues to see and experience how pervasive alcohol is in our American culture, from society to workplace.

Her recent last name change from Gilhoi to Veralle, a completely made up last name aligned with an Italian destiny, signifies a new chapter in her life post-divorce and embracing a role as visionary and workplace wellbeing advocate and consultant to decentralize alcohol in the workplace. Drawing from seven years of making an alcohol-free lifestyle and nonalcoholic options accessible and #sobernotsober, Jen delivered a TEDxTalk, released globally in July 2023: Why We Should Rethink Drinking Culture. She’s also founder of Sparktrack (est 2011), cofounder of Zero Proof Collective (May 2022), cofounder of Sauna and Sobriety (May 2023), and was recently published in The Star Tribune for her commentary: Could We Embrace the Nonalcoholic Option?
