Are pride and shame two sides of the same coin?

Pride is a word we attach to so many things. For Jasper it’s a flipping of the narrative about parts of themself that are politicised by the wider world. It isn’t always the feeling they strive for and that feeling isn’t necessarily a clear pathway to success. 

About the speaker

Jasper Peach is a trans, non-binary and disabled writer and speaker. They are passionate about equitable access and inclusion, focused around the dismantling of misplaced shame via storytelling. With a background in marriage and funeral celebrancy, Auslan interpreting and community broadcasting, their favourite thing to do is engage in meaningful conversation.

Their work has been published in The Age, HireUp, The Big Issue, Archer, The Guardian, Verandah, Australian Poetry Journal, Meanjin, ABC and SBS online.

You’ll be a Wonderful Parent is their first book.
